You’ve noticed a gap from the windowsill to the frame

Do you know what the most obvious sign of poorly installed windows is? It is a gap between the windowsill and the window frame is one of the most telling symptoms of faulty window installation. Why does this happen? Because the windows were not measured correctly. There should not be any gap, and if there is, it means there was a problem with the measurement. Even worse? This is a contractor error that is unlikely to be covered by the window manufacturer’s product return policy.

Drafts and/or water damage have been observed

Water and air should not travel through your new windows if they are properly placed. Notice a draft when you walk by your window? Hopefully it is just not closed all th way. If it is, then it most likely means that either it was not installed well or there are issues such as water damage or a poorly installed window.

Your windows are not opening or closing correctly

A properly installed window will open and close silently. It may produce noise or refuse to open or shut if it was not placed properly if the dimensions were incorrect. If you discover that you can’t quickly open and close your windows then you might be dealing with a bad installation. Once again, this is not even the worst news. The worst news is that this problem will only get worse if you do not have it treated.

The caulking appears to be sloppy and/or uneven

Caulking is not just there for looks – it has a very specific purpose. It is there to seal and weatherproof your windows. Look at your window, starting with the bottom edge. Is it caulked? It should not be. Then look at the top and edges. They, on the other hand, should have a visible coating of caulk that is even. Note anything that looks spotty, untidy, or uneven as this is a sign of issues.

Fog between the panes of your window

Have you seen that there is condensation between the panes of your windows? There are two reasons this might be happening – it could be that the sale is not longer working or the window was not installed well.

To avoid the above issues, choose a competent window installation firm with a lengthy track record of success if you want to prevent improper installation and the headaches it may bring. For additional information, call Moldings Plus at (909) 947-3310.
